NANAIMO – The second COVID-19 cluster in a Nanaimo school this week has been confirmed.
The Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District reporting a new exposure event at John Barsby on Nov. 9 and Nov. 10., in addition to the first exposure event on Nov. 6.
A cluster is defined by two confirmed cases at a facility within a two week period.
A cluster was also declared earlier this week at Dover Bay Secondary School.
Island Health have already completed contact tracing of the newly confirmed case and all those who came in direct contact have been notified.
The announcement from Nanaimo-Ladysmith Public Schools comes on the heels of an outbreak being declared at a unit inside Nanaimo Regional General Hospital on Nov. 11.
