NANAIMO — Investigators probing the discovery of a man’s body in the Old City Quarter neighbourhood on Boxing Day determined homicide was not a cause of death.
A news release from Nanaimo RCMP stated their Serious Crime Unit (SCU) investigators completed their investigation, who ruled out foul play after an autopsy was completed on New Year’s eve.
A preliminary investigation couldn’t determine a cause of death, leading to the involvement of the SCU.
Several evidence markers were spotted at the scene on Boxing Day.
Police believe reports of loud noises heard late on Christmas evening near where the 59-year-old man’s body was found weren’t connected to his death.
The BC Coroners Service is continuing its investigation.
